Air Travel
WITH AIRLINE APPROVAL, Portable Outlet batteries are permitted in your carry-on luggage
All Portable Outlet models are lithium-ion batteries between 101 and 160 watt-hours that meet TSA and FAA requirements for air travel.
- However, batteries with a capacity between 101 and 160 watt-hours REQUIRE AIRLINE APPROVAL.
- To determine whether your airline permits our batteries, please refer to the approved and restricted airline list in the section below.
- Airlines that permit lithium-ion batteries between 101 and 160 watt-hours allow a maximum of TWO batteries per passenger.
- Lithium-ion batteries are NOT ALLOWED in your checked luggage.
Other restrictions may apply. For example, a battery may be denied on a flight if it is cracked or damaged.
If your Portable Outlet battery is confiscated at the airport, we will replace it for free.
We understand that CPAP battery users have concerns about taking a Portable Outlet on a domestic or international flight. Since we began in 2017, we have never been notified that a Portable Outlet battery was refused on any domestic or international commercial flight. If your Portable Outlet PO155W, PO160UPS, PO160UPSv2, or PO1600UPSX9 model is confiscated while the current TSA and FAA lithium-ion battery rules are in place, we will send you a replacement Portable Outlet anywhere in the continental United States for free.
Airline Approval
Most airlines adhere to standard FAA and TSA guidelines for lithium-ion batteries between 101Wh and 160Wh in carry-on luggage. However, some airlines require pre-flight approval. Check our comprehensive list of airlines that either permit these batteries in carry-on luggage without prior notice, require travelers to obtain pre-flight approval before flying, or are restricted.
REMINDER: Portable Outlet is not associated with any airline. For airlines that require pre-flight approval, contact their customer service team in advance to travel with your Portable Outlet battery in your carry-on luggage.
