The Portable Outlet 155W and 160UPS are allowed on Commercial Airlines, only in "Carry-On Baggage".

The Portable Outlet CPAP Battery has been selling in North America since June 2017. In that time we have sold thousands of our 155W and 160UPS lithium-ion batteries through hundreds of home medical equipment and online dealers. Since we began, we have never been notified that a Portable Outlet battery was refused on any domestic or worldwide commercial flight. 

Our battery has been certified by an internationally recognized testing laboratory. Our lithium-Ion battery is UN38.3 certified and meets all international transportation guidelines. This is named for section 38.3 in the Manual of Tests and Criteria created by the Committee of Experts of the United Nations Transport of Dangerous Goods. These tests include Altitude Simulation, Thermal Testing, Vibration, Shock, External Short Circuit, Impact, Overcharge, and Forced Discharge.

​Since the Portable Outlet is a 159 Watt Battery, it follows rules designated for lithium-ion batteries between 101 and 160 Watts:

• They are allowed on commercial flights in "Carry-On Baggage" only.
• There is a limit of TWO allowed per passenger on each flight.
• Lithium-ion batteries are NOT allowed in checked luggage placed in the airplane's cargo hold.

​Other restrictions may apply. For example, a battery may be denied on a flight if it is cracked or damaged. We understand that CPAP battery users have concerns about taking a Portable Outlet on a domestic or international flight. That is why we make the following promise:

If your Portable Outlet is confiscated by airline or airport staff, we will replace that Portable Outlet for free.*

*Some restrictions apply. If your Portable Outlet PO155W, PO160UPS, or PO160UPSv2 model is confiscated while the current TSA and FAA 160 watt, lithium battery rules are in place, we will send you a replacement Portable Outlet anywhere in the continental United States for free.

While most airlines follow standard TSA guidelines for carry-on lithium ion batteries above 100Wh but below 160Wh, some airlines have special rules regarding lithium ion batteries.
